Event Description
Doctor, doctor, give me the news. I've got a, bad case of, systematic destruction of public health funding, especially targeted at minority groups... Is that how the lyrics go?
Anyway! We here at QT* Cabaret admire and appreciate all the work that our medical professionals do, especially for us trans people. So we're gonna make a night for them! QT* Cabaret is a place for transgender and gender diverse people to perform, socialise, and feel together. And for this night, we welcome in our beautiful and talented medical community to show you how much you mean to us (Also there'll be a bunch of queer poeple, cause we can't stop them from getting in).
We will have a hand selected bunch of inpatients gracing our stage, to impress, depress, regress and digress to you a cavalcade of catastrophic cabaret offerings.
QT* will offer up to you performance art. It might be the most amazing piece of performance art that will change you, how you perceive the world and navigate society as a whole! Or, it could be shit. But one thing we will guarantee is, you won't forget a night QT* Cabaret.
Free entry – no tickets required
Located just a few blocks from the conference venue
Art for sale – support local creatives and maybe take home a piece!
Venue has two stairs at entry (email us ahead of time if you need a ramp – we’ll build one) and outdoor area is fully accessible

Event Description
Affirmations: A trans & gender diverse group exhibition at Good Grief Studios, Nipaluna/Hobart.
For many trans and gender diverse people, gender affirmation is first encountered or awakened through language, and realised in the body. It may come through the correct use of pronouns or transition-related processes, or arise externally - discovered in fiction, nature, or relationships with nonhuman beings. These moments of recognition open space for selfhood beyond normative scripts.
This exhibition expands on the idea of “affirmation” to ask:
How do imagination and lived reality intertwine?
How are words used to speak something into existence?
How do medicine, language, imagination, and technology shape and reshape the body in queer and alchemic ways?
Affirmations is presented in collaboration with the national AUSPATH (Australian Professional Association of Transgender Health) Conference and will be hosted at Good Grief Studios in Nipaluna/Hobart. It offers an intimate and bold reflection on trans health, identity, and creativity at the intersection of art and care.
